Lodi Wine Country

The unfortunate and devastating Atlas fire derailed our recent trip to Napa, so we decided to explore Lodi — a neighboring wine region. I was very pleased to learn that Lodi has been growing wine grapes since the mid-1800s and, today, is the largest appellation in California with over 190,000 acres in production. Coincidentally, it also happens to be the location of our favorite vineyard Michael David where you can indulge in the Seven Deadly Zins or 6th Sense Syrah. Be sure to tour the beautiful grounds, which happens to house its own playground set amidst its gorgeous vineyard. Next, head over to Oak Farm Vineyards and be sure to try their amazing Grenache and make reservations for one of their tours. Round up your expedition at Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi and Peltier Winery after grabbing lunch at Pietro’s. Lodi is definitely off the beaten path, but worth the visit if you’re ever in the Sacramento area and are looking for a more laid back wine country vibe.
