If I had to choose the most fashionable season of the year, I’d choose fall. I adore the infinite outfit possibilities that can be achieved by layering with a scarf or adding a pair opaque tights. I’m always careful, however, not to spend my entire clothing budget in September because temperatures in most cities are still mild and fall really only spans a short period of about 90 days. Instead, I prefer to layer items from summer, spring and previous fall seasons to create layered transitional looks while saving my capital for the long winter months when I’m more likely to need new inspiration. Therefore, for the month of September I’d like to show you how to transition your spring and summer pieces to fall starting with my basic navy blue midi skirt.
For cute midi’s try these:
ASOS Tailored Origami Fold Wrap Pencil
French Connection Rikki Crepe Flared Skirt
ASOS Pleated Midi Skirt with Wrap Front Detail
ASOS Scuba Prom Skirt with Scallop Hem
… and add a striped turtleneck like this one:
J.Crew Striped button-shoulder turtleneck
Another alternative is to add a sweatshirt for a more casual feel. Here are two recent favorites of mine:
Madewell Embroidered Crop Sweatshirt
Adding a cropped jacket like this BLANKNYC Suede Moto Jacket or ¾ sleeve floral top like this one from Zara is another way to spice up your midi without breaking the budget. The cropped style and 3/4 length sleeves will balance out your midi skirt nicely.
Happy shopping!

September 25, 2017I love that blue skirt and pink jacket. I have to find pieces that will keep me warm in my office and but not make me break a sweat in the Texas heat.
