I am a huge fan of color, but I love muted tones at the beginning of fall and winter. I’ve discovered that a fun way of adding dimension to a muted color palette is to play with pattern and texture on your outerwear. I’ve owned this Zara coat for at least 5 years and I always find new and interesting ways to pair it with items in my closet. I opted for adding a floral dress, also from Zara, and flats for exploring Chinatown during a recent visit to San Francisco. The embroidered coat adds an interesting texture to an otherwise simple floral dress. My suggestions for finding the perfect accent coat are …
Select a color that inspires you or makes you happy (winter is depressing and dreary enough).
Choose your favorite silhouette. In the end, you feel happier if you accentuate what makes you feel most confident.
Last, but not least, think functionality. The coat I’m currently wearing works well for west coast winter days, but will not work well for winters in the Mid-Atlantic.

November 21, 2017Very nice coats for fall. I’m in the desert southwest so these would even work well for me through the winter! That pink one is my favorite 😉
