This post is inspired by a recent request from a good friend to provide styling advice for her upcoming family holiday photo shoot. In addition to sharing some of my recommendations to help her craft a timeless holiday inspired look, I’m including a few shots from my own family shoot from last year to show you how the look can be pulled together. My obsession with tulle is no secret and I stand by the fact that even if you embody the essence of Diane Keaton in Annie Hall, there is still a tulle skirt for you. Paring with a light knit balances out the look, thereby avoiding any potential fairy-like subtext. If you’re still not convinced, try a bit of lace or satin to achieve a similar (but less fussy) holiday look. The skirt in this photo is from ASOS and I’ve linked some similar items here. Since we were shooting indoors I layered this skirt over a pencil dress that has lovely lace details on the bodice (another fun trick to repurpose your closet favorites). I seldom wear all black and I love adding a pop of color with shoes or other accessories. Hopefully this provides inspiration, not only for your holiday shoot, but also upcoming holiday soirées. Happy Shopping!
